قرآن مجيد شهادت ميدهد كه روزه در تمام آديان آسمانى فرض بوده ودر نظام عبادت هر امتى حيثيت بخش لازمى را داشته است طوریکه این مفهوم در آیه متبرکه بصورت واضح معلوم میشود:« كما كتب على الذين من قبلكم »( بقره ۱۸۳ ) ( طوريكه فرض گردانيده شده بود بر كسانى كه پيش از شما بودند. ).
