About this book

The Frameworks Plus Write/Read capability is an old but useful feature in the SAP2000 (and ETABS) interoperability section.

It allows engineers to transfer structural models between the Frameworks Plus software environment (a 3D steel and concrete modeling tool based on Intergraph's Micro Station platform) and CSI computational software.

The following describes how to work, import, and transfer data between these software:

1. How to import Frame works Plus file into SAP2000 (Read section)

SAP2000 software natively has the ability to directly read geometry and cross-sections output from Frameworks Plus. To do this:

1. In the SAP2000 program, go to the File > Import > Frame Works Plus File menu.

2. Select the relevant model file.

3. In the opened window, set the units system and how materials and sections are mapped (Section Mapping).

4. Upon final approval, the linear geometry of the structure (nodes and frame elements) along with the assigned sections are reconstructed in SAP2000.

2. Transfer to ETABS (Indirect Write/Read Process)

Since ETABS software focuses more on modeling multi-story buildings, it does not have a direct menu for importing Frameworks Plus output files like SAP2000.
